Winning, Walking, Michael Cohen, & NYC

This was a busy week! I went to NYC for the launch of the Chef King Phojanakong Foundation which was a highlight. Here's the breakdown:

* Trips to the Met to see the Lagerfeld and Lauren Halsey exhibits (NOT TO BE MISSED!).  See the picture below - the Lauren Halsey exhibit was specially commissioned and is a mix of Egypt meeting her South Central L.A. Black culture. Stunning and inspiring.

* Fotographiska museum (it opens at 9 a.m. and you can walk around with drinks from their cafe! Love it at 9 a.m.). Super fun celebrity photography exhibit this time from Terency O'Neill.  Last time I was here it was the David de la Chappelle exhibit - amazing.

* Coffee and journaling at Irving 71

* Dinner (Spaghetti Aglio, Olio e Peperoncino) and Principessa cake at Sant Ambroeus - I go every time and it's the best pasta dish in all of NYC

* Trips to C.O. Bigelow and Zitomer (go every time to stock up on little luxuries)

* Ran into Michael Cohen (yes THE Michael Cohen) at the Ralph Lauren coffee counter on 72nd. Told him I appreciated him; we talked about CNN, his high cholesterol, and his stress. He ordered the cookie - it was a "cheat day" - (also: "every day is a cheat day.")

* Trips to two Kilian counters, one at the shop on Washington in Meatpacking and the other uptown at Bergdorf's. It's my favorite perfume line and super sexy. With scented lipsticks. Love.

* Walked 27,000 steps on Monday. Thanks Ashley Black Fascia Blaster for keeping the pain away (for another blog post). 14,000 Sunday, 9,000 Tuesday. Walked from my hotel on 29th to the Met and back. Then to 13th and back.

* Walked 25,000 steps today (Sunday, June 11). Once again - thanks to the Fascia Blaster for keeping me pain free-ish.

* Trip to Baltimore with my girl to get her a hair trim, condition, and silk press. Then to the Cross Street Market for lunch and to meet up with my fabulous colleague Britney!

* Working on GenXpertise today! It's my passion!

* SUPER LOVING Tim Grover's "Winning" book - the sequel to "Relentless." It's so so genius for those of us who can't stop creating things.

* Went to the launch of the Chef King Phojanakong Foundation, where we raised 100k for an endowed scholarship in his name at the Culinary Institute of America where he had attended. King was one of my very dearest friends who died of a rare brain infection in January. To learn more about King go to www.myfriendking.com, a website I built to collect his stories. Saw so many wonderful amazing friends from high school.  For another post.
